SMS messaging privacy policy

This policy describes how mobile phone numbers are handled by a private software application operated by Charles T. Granatell (“the operator”). The application sends automated SMS notifications to the operator’s own mobile number. The operator is the sole user and the sole recipient of these messages.

Information collected

The application stores one mobile phone number: the operator’s own. It is entered manually into a private configuration file during setup. No mobile numbers are collected from any other person, and no public sign-up mechanism exists.

Message delivery records are retained for operational and troubleshooting purposes.

Mobile information sharing

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

How the information is used

The stored mobile number is used for one purpose: delivering account notifications from the application to the operator, and receiving the operator’s replies. It is not used for marketing, advertising, or promotion. It is not sold, rented, leased, or traded.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies. Typical volume is one to five notification sequences per week, sent on weekdays only. A single sequence consists of a notification, one reminder if no reply is received, and a closing confirmation. Some weeks may contain no messages at all.

Opting out

Reply STOP to any message to stop all further messages. Reply HELP for assistance. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Data security

The mobile number is stored encrypted at rest in a managed secrets service and is never committed to source control, written to application logs, or displayed in error output. Access is restricted to the operator.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated. The revision date above reflects the most recent change.
